Occupational Health Safety Unit
BACKGROUND
The Occupational Health and Safety Unit under the Directorate of Public Health Services, Ministry of Health was established to prevent work-related injury and illness and promote the health and safety of the workers in all occupations. This can be achieved by fostering a safe and healthy occupational environment for all and protecting all the general public who may be affected by the occupational environment.
PRIMARY GOALS
The Occupational Health and Safety Program’s goal is to prevent, promote, and maintain the highest degree of physical, mental, and social well-being of workers in all occupations; as well as to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and deaths.

AREAS OF FOCUS
• Develop OHS regulations ahead the workplace safety
• Monitor and investigate exposure, incidents, injuries, and illness related to occupational health and safety at workplaces
• Create and integrate Hepatitis B Serology Testing and Vaccination of Health Workers into the Occupational Health and Safety Programme.
• Strengthen collaboration and partnership with stakeholders to promote health and well-being at workplaces.
• Develop a legal framework for biosafety and biosecurity; and Infection Prevention and Control
• Sensitize and train workers, and employers about health and safety risks in the workplace
• Establish a National Digital Monitoring Data Management System for Occupational Health and Safety program
